7th world football championships for youngsters with diabetes

The Medtronic Junior Cup Diabetes is the name of the unofficial football ‘world cup’ for young people suffering from diabetes. The aim of the JCD is to show children suffering from type 1 diabetes that they can still play sports and lead active lives in spite of their condition.

Taking their lead from the World Championship in Brazil, the 11 best diabetic footballers will be donning their country’s kit to compete in the finals, which will be held this weekend at the National Sports Centre Papendal in Arnhem (Netherlands) from 22 to 24 August. This is the sports complex used by the Dutch NOC*NSF (National Olympic Committee/Netherlands Sports Federation) and is also used by Vitesse Arnhem, the local professional football club, for training purposes.

Follow our talented young footballers on their road to the title. Do come along on 24 August and support the twelve countries at the Junior Cup Diabetes world cup finals day in Arnhem!
